Well you might be more familiar with these guys than you expect, and if you like original music in a similar style to Genesis, Sting, Peter Gabriel, King Crimson and Coldplay then you won't be disappointed.
John started learning the piano at the age of 5 and singing in the Liverpool Cathedral Choir from the age of 7 he left school at 18 with O' and A' Level Music and Grade VIII piano.
After playing in local bands he got his first major break working with Uli Jon Roth of the Scorpionson a world tour in 1985. From then on many bands used John's services, two European tours with Asia in the late 80's were followed by stints with Paul Rodgers in The Law and John Wetton and Carl Palmer in Qango. In recent years John co-wrote music with Fish (Fellini Days) and John Wetton (Arkangel and Rock of Faith) and to square the circle he recently completed a world tour with The Scorpions for their Acoustica project.
As John's writing became more apparent a career beckoned and after 4 years of solo shows The John Young Band was born early in 2003 featuring Dave Stewart on drums (Camel and Deacon Blue), Robin Boult on guitar (Howard Jones and Fish) and John Jowitt on bass (I.Q., and Jadis).
Says John "Our sound is pretty big, and we think there is a massive market for this kind of band both with the older generation who love Genesis, Yes and Floyd through to the younger audiences who enjoy Radiohead and Coldplay.
I don't necessarily like the term of 'thinking-man's rock music' but in a world dominated by reality television and fame shows something with a little depth probably won't go amiss!"
In fact John is hard to miss these days with one of his semi-classical pieces 'Political Agenda' being used as a 'sting' on CNN for their coverage of events in Iraq 6 times a day, 7 days a week!
